welcome
Hello and welcome to wetowne. wetowne is actually my name and the name of this site.
I am semi-retired and interested in collecting watches and in photographing them. You will find a few pictures of watches that I have collected over the last couple of years in the gallery.
I have mostly value oriented watches which means I buy inexpensive or cheap watches. I like to think of myself as frugal, my friends like to think of me as a cheap old bastard. I collect primarily mechanical watches which I think are more interesting from a horological point than quartz. There is something about a tiny spring driven machine dividing the day up into hours, minutes and seconds that I find fascinating. I am not anti quartz and have several analog and digital models that I enjoy very much.
I hope you have a good time while you take a look around this site. It is always under construction and I guess it will never actually be finished. Thank you for dropping by.
watches
I have about thirteen different watches right now and that number is always on the rise. One of the benefits of collecting "frugal" watches is that I am able to add new ones rapidly.
Some of the brands in my collection include Invicta, Seiko, Zeno, Alpha, Croton, Vostok, Hamilton, Casio and others.
cameras
I do most of my shooting with a Canon PowerShot G2 digital camera.I use an indoor studio setup consisting of a home brew light box made from pvc pipe and white trash bags lit with daylight balanced flourescent bulbs in goose neck table lamps. It all comes from Home Depot and not an expensive photo store. You see, my friends are right about me.
other stuff
Feel free to look around in the gallery at my other pictures. There are some links to watch and photo related sites that you might like and I'll be adding new content as it comes along.
